People May Need to, um, Talk to Each Other, Maybe Read Books

An obscure technology company called NTP is claiming a patent infringement, and the ensuing court case could result in BlackBerry service being cut off to 3.5 million users.
BlackBerries are too light to be used as door stops; and they are the wrong shape to be used as coasters.

The one thing I can say about "CrackBerry" addicts is that they are not even one tenth as obnoxious as the guys with the Lieutenent Uhura-style earpieces who talk to themselves constantly. It has become some sort of weird way that people, mosly men, want to show how important they are. "Look at me, I can look like a total tool."

That bit of self-importance tends to interfere with the message of charity, don't it?
I had a student who wore one of those. I told him that he can't use cell phones in class, then he said, "but it's hands free..."

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.

Hey Ted, I think you switched the company names while you were typing. RIM (Research in Motion) is the company that makes the blackberry. I think that NTP is the company in the us that is suing them. They are also running into the same sort of problem in the UK.
