Wanda!

There has been a lot of buzz about Metallica and Run-DMC being nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. In the news about these two acts being nominated, one other nominee has been ignored: Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly.

I, for one, am very happy that Jackson has been recognized. She was a pioneering artist in rockabilly and continues to serve as an inspiration for women in both rock and country. Even though she's well known among musicians and rock journalists, she hasn't gotten the due that she deserves among the broader public. Hopefully, this nomination will change that.
Plus, it will be fun to see Lars Ulrich, Reverend Run and Wanda all up on stage together.

Here are some videos I caught on YouTube. The first is Wanda performing "Hard Headed Woman," a fan favorite (and covered by Elvis Presley, who she toured with). The second is Wanda with Tejana country-rocker Rosie Flores performing "Rock Your Baby" in 1998.

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.
