Soccer Pic For Tom
Over across the pond, there is a tradition of demoting underperforming teams from the "Major Leagues" and promoting good teams from the lower ranks. Under this system, the Tucson Sidewinders would be in the major leagues, and the Devil Rays might be the ones moving to Reno. Hey, could happen.
Anyway, one of the teams that this is about to happen to in England is Sheffield United. Demotion would again leave the city without a Premier League team (Sheffield Wednesday, the other big club there and one of the oldest sports teams in the world, missed out on promotion). There is some controversey about the demotion, and fans are hoping for a last minute reprieve when things are settled this week.
Fans of the Blades marched on Parliament led by their most famous fan, Sean Bean. You may recognize Bean from his appearances in Goldeneye, Patriot Games, Lord of the Rings and ads for contact lens solution. He's one of my brother's favorite actors, so this pic is for him.

In addition to being a fan of the team, Bean was in the 1996 film When Saturday Comes. In that movie, Bean played a hard core fan of the team who ends up playing for them.

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.

I watched a game on Saturday or Sunday with some group called the Chivas but since I am not as cool as you are I had no idea who they were playing. I thought it might be the Revs.
Anyway, I had no idea if it was live or not but the Chivas team scored twice and I got yelled at by Case (my northern Irish friend out from NI visiting me) and Ben (my driver) for watching it for longer then five seconds.

If it was Chivas USA (the only Chivas in season right now), then they were in fact, playing the Revs. They may be still bitter about the name "Revolution," but the team has some British connections, with Scotish international and Liverpool great Steve Nicol as their coach and Welsh player Andy Dorman playing for them. Michael Parkhurst has dual citizenship and had an offer to play for the Irish national team, but opted to play for the United States. Ex-Rev Clint Dempsey now plays for Fullham.
Thank you for more detail than I was expecting.
Case says that someone is being paid a lot more money for going with XYZ but since I have a sinus infection, I have no idea who he is talking about.
