Heroes Gives Shout Out to the King
I watched the penultimate episode of Heroes last night. I noticed that one of the buildings was identified as "Kirby Plaza." Awesome. This Jack Kirby fan thanks whoever put that detail in.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jack Kirby at an in-store appearance a few months before he died. The man had a joyful pride about his work, always smiling while describing his characters and stories. He felt like he knew these characters, talking about the Newsboy Legion or Mister Miracle like they were buddies of his.
There was also a bit where the character Micah Sanders was presented with a copy of Silver Surfer #1. Although Kirby created the character, he didn't do the pencils in that issue. I thought maybe this was another tribute to Kirby, albeit badly aimed. Then I saw the ad promoting the next Fantastic Four movie, Rise of the Silver Surfer. Ack...synergy.
Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.
