While observing my fellow males, I've noticed a great deal of them seem to spit often. Am I missing something?

Yes and it is absolutely disgusting. There is no reason for the snorting, the hwuck, and then the spit. Even if the man smokes, be a bit more decorous about it.
It is one of the biggest turn offs a guy can have. UGH!
