Get Your Best Ruca and Curl Up In Front of the TV Tommorrow

Lalo Guerrero: The Original Chicano will be shown on KUAT tommorrow (Sunday) at 6:30. I saw a preview of this documentary back in October at the Fox Theater.

Tune in and check out the great music that this man gave us.

Here is my trouble though: why does it seem like KUAT is the last PBS station to show this? You'd think they would have been excited to show this program, given that Guerrero was born here and is regarded as a major figure in the development of Chicano culture in the southwest . Why is an hour long documentary starting on the half-hour? That's a bit odd. And why not in prime time? Instead they are using prime time to show a Doo Wop "Special" that they have shown a few times before. As near as I can tell, the series that this is a part of, Voces, hasn't even been shown here. Far better to feed the cheesy white baby boomers with yet another Peter, Paul and Mary special than to pay tribute to actual local culture. Gawd.

If I can't rant here, where can I?

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.
