Greg Lalas Mojo
During Saturday's match, Greg Lalas noted how long it had been since Clint Mathis had done something butt stupid during a game. He noted that he was composed and didn't seem to be the bad boy that he used to be. As if on cue, Mathis tried to break Avery John's jaw and was ejected from the game.Oops.
Maybe not an oops? Maybe Lalas has some sort of mystical ability that has been previously unexplored. I suggest the following lines for Lalas as playoff season looms:
- "You know Brad, it's been a while since DC United has made an own goal."
- "Dema Kovalenko has done a much better job of controling his temper lately."
- "Columbus has improved it's midfield, not as many game killing turnovers as early in the season."
- "Remember when Pat Onstad bobbled that shot into his own net? Good to see he hasn't done that in a while."
Given all of this, there are things that Lalas should not say:
- "Joey Franchino has more finesse as of late, none of those wild tackles that used to earn him cards."
- "Sure Matt Reis has a reputation as a hard man, but we really haven't seen him do the sort of violent takedown of a striker that would get him ejected in a long time."
- "Khano Smith's passing has improved."
- "Good to see Shalrie Joseph back. Let's hope he stays out of bars."
Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.
