Battle of Adrianople

Today is the anniversary of the defeat of the Romans at Adrianople at the hands of a force of Visigoths, Ostrogoths and Alans led by the Visigothic King Fritigern in 378 AD.

Not sure what to do with that. I suppose we should all go out and sack the city in remembarance.

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.

I thought I would start a peaceful revolution like the Quit India Movement on Myspace with it's 100 million members.

Being a family history buff, I was intrigued to find out that the family name Alan, in Britania, supposedly orginated from this Alan of which you speak. They would have had to move across Europe from what is today Iran, or at least the name would have.

I love etymology.

Try punching it in here, Tom. http://plasma.nationalgeographic.com/mapmachine/

That is because Mapquest sucks.

I did find out that you can play a wargame version of the battle...but if you really want to, you can go via boat to the Maritsa River to the landing that is nearby.

You might need horses to get to the actual battle ground though. Can you and your company ride?

Onagers or ballistas?

Elizabeth...Don't encourage him.

Yes Ted.

Ignore my last question Tom.
