What's Left of My World Cup Observations

Best name: Tie: Angola and Atlético Sport Aviação forward Love. Yes, that was the name on the jersey, Love. Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven forward Jan Johannes Vennegoor of Hesselink. The "Vennegoor of Hesselink" is his full last name, and was displayed in tiny letters on the back of his jersey. Apparently, this is a result of his family history, his grandmother being named Vennegoor. Being the last of her line, the two names were combined. "Of" is Dutch for "Or." This would be like me calling myself "Balderrama or Prezelski." Thankfully, I'm not Dutch.

Annother thing: Before the game, the Germans totally butchered the Dead Kennedys classic "California Uber Alles." I mean, it was almost unrecognizeable. This was almost as bad as the English national team getting the lyrics to "My Counrty 'Tis of Thee" wrong. What is up with that?

Well, since the cup is almost over, I can get back to bitching about the MLS. So...did you see the New England - Colorado game yesterday? Lacrosse lines...lacrosse lines on the field! I'll still take that over football lines any day of the week.

Yeah, I know, Taylor Twellman was afraid to go into the crease, that was the problem.

The Denver nitwits that were broadcasting the game combined Avery John and Shalrie Joseph into one super player called "Avery Joseph." Yeah, those Carribean types all look the same, right?

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.

Comments:
so when we get our team, should the team demand a spiffy brand new $500 million taxpayer funded stadium?

They already tried to do that, didn't work...that's why MLS Commissioner Don Garber told me that Phoenix wasn't getting a team in the forseeable future.

Actually, I really good person to ask about that would be Slade Mead, he was one of the guys who lobbied MLS.

Um sure Ted.

oh and I saw a news article with the current W-L-D of the New England Revs at 6-6-6...wonder what it means? heehee
