Not Promising At All

I flipped through my dog-eared 1989 edition of The New Trouser Press Record Guide, and happened upon page 283:

Los Illegals: "...what comes across is characterless...it's hard to get excited about their Anyband guitar-laden rock and torpid songwriting."

Illustrated Man: "...this overbearing, overproduced, soul-free dance-funk hardly reflects well on any of the participants...this is just corporate bandwagon-jumping of no merit."

Inca Babies: "Real tribute-band circuit stuff...Lyrics are provided, an ill-advised move."

Individuals: "...arty pretentiousness makes them sound like a poor copy of the Cure or a less-aggressive Gang of Four...style supplants substance, and there's nothing much lurking behind the hip artifice."

Indoor Life: "...these monotonous creations are only intermittently entertaining and rarely captivating."

These are the only bands listed on that page.

Please note, this means you Doralina, that Los Illegals bears no relation to Los Illegales.

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.

Comments:
Oddly enough, a google search yields 781 references to the Inca Babies.
