Just Great

The Tucson Weekly is featuring my brother in their latest "Nine Questions." He'll be insufferable for a week.

Of course, he has to mention the New Pornographers, along with fellow Cannucks Universal Honey. Then, later he says he'll listen to "any constituent who will vote for me." Geez Tom, not only do these guys not live in the district, but they call them "ridings" up there.

Maybe with the New Pornographers and Los Tigres del Norte, he's trying to get a whole musical NAFTA thing going. Shhh...don't tell Jimbo Watson.

Actually, the New Pornographers include one person who doesn't live in a "riding," but she lives in District 28. I expect her to be mentioned when they do a "Nine Questions" with Ted Downing.

Come to think of it, many of these guys that he mentions not only live in the district, but in his precinct. Geez, Tom, way to be diverse.

And by the way, the show that Tom mentions was not a KAMP benefit, but an "Eat to the Beat" concert in the Student Union Cellar. The first big KAMP benefit Tom and I attended had River Roses, Sidewinders and Burning Bush. Some band from Tempe named the Gin Blossoms were supposed to attend but cancelled. In revenge, we refused to play their stuff on KAMP. We showed 'em.

Nice way to try to get in with members of the Weekly staff by throwing in a gratuitous mention of their in-laws.

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.

Comments:
Okay...do we need to separate you two?

No, no, no seperation! I think a cage match is in order! Brother against brother, twin against twin, etc...

Good Fun, Right?

Jeff Glave is not an "in-law," but a " spousal ex." Please get these things right. I was dropping the name to increase my hipster bonafides, since Jeff was later a member of the Fells, a band with a nationwide cult following in the 1990s.

No, it was not an "Eat to the Beat" show. It was in the Student Union Ballroom in the evening, while "ETTB" shows were held in . The acts that played included Fish Karma, River Roses and I believe Johnny Law. You may be confused with another Phoenix area band called Burning Bush, who played at this or another similar show soon thereafter.

The Roses were, of course, much bigger than the Gin Blossoms at the time. The show you refered to was much later. As I recall, Maggie Golston was the one that snagged the boys from Tempe. There I go dropping names again.

Who was that beautiful red-head? I have never seen her before. Is she someone important? I have no idea who she is, honest...

I see that I made a mistake. This is a problem when you don't have an editor.

ETTB shows were held at noon in the U of A Cellar.

Thanks.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TED & TOM!
