Giant Sand / Marie Frank Plus Karaoke!
The show at Club Congress was billed as Giant Sand and karaoke. I was intrigued...I thought maybe we'd get to sing "Love Like a Train" to a screen with the lyrics.
First up, was Marie Frank. I didn't realize that this woman is actually one of the biggest pop singers in Denmark. I only found out because the club was full of touring Danish gymnasts that knew all of her lyrics and struggled to take pictures of themselves with her. Who the heck knew?
There were some problems with the sound. Two of Howe Gelb's pedals made some horrible noise. He kept hitting it anyway just to bug us, I think.
Turns out, the karaoke was one of those usual karaoke people, the ones that go from bar to bar. They were booked before Giant Sand was.
