De Revolutionibus Orbium Harpastum

Poor Zach Thornton! His team lost 1-0 to the New England Revolution today, meaning the Revs go on MLS Cup in the wonderful metropolis of Frisco, Texas, while the Fire goes back to Chicago. Hmm...sounds like the Fire gets the better deal.

New England scored the first goal in the fourth minute. Clint Dempsey's goal celebration consisted of a demonstration of "Stop, Drop and Roll." Putting out a Fire, get it?

The Fire had a goal called back in extra time, which led to numerous protests from the Chicago players. The replay showed that Gonzalo Segares was clearly offside. The confrontation with the referee led to a red card being shown to Andy Herron.

The most bizarre part came after the game. Thornton and a couple of other players confronted the Revolution, who were trying to start a celebration. I think I heard Jim Curtin's name mentioned as someone who was in the melee. Reports from fans after the game point to this whole thing starting when C. J. Brown spit at Shalrie Joseph. Earlier this season, Thornton attacked Clint Dempsey after Dempsey attempted to recover a ball after scoring, so he's got a history of losing it when he is frustrated.

This means I am off to Dallas, I think. I spoke to Monty Rodrigues and the Midnight Riders have already been in touch with folks with the management of FC Dallas and they have been very accomodating.

Next up: we destroy Landon Donovan. This will be fun!

Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.

Comments:
Los Angeles vs. Boston? in Dallas? There is something dreadfully wrong about this. I hope this does not open the seventh seal...
