New Name
Okay...I don't need to tell any of you about the, um, troubles of Peter Picurro. Yesterday, it was announced that the name of Picurro's Pizzeria has been changed to Fresco (yeah, really original...). By the afternoon, the signs on all of the restaurants had been changed. The place is now owned by Picurro's ex-wife. She must love that.
The important part is this...Picurro's was just a pizzeria; Fresco is a pizzeria and a pastaria.I'm glad the place has stayed in local hands though. There was talk of the franchisees going to Papa John's or another national chain. That's what our town needs, more national chains.
They were talking about a drop off in business, but I went to the Picurro's near my house last week at about 2:00 in the afternoon. The place was packed.
I figured I could go there since I'm a bit old for Peter.

I had only recently discovered the joy of the "Rastafarian Chicken Pizza" when this story broke.
Naturally, I was crushed to discover that my enjoyment of this newfound and sublime snack delight would forever be tinged, nay spoiled, by the oppressive sense that to purchase such a delectable pie would be somehow to condone, perhaps even to underwrite, sexual predator.
Now I am free to enjoy my ginger and basil accented chicken pizza, guilt-free, at peace with myself and at one with the righteous.

You know Ted, Mr. Piccuro was a guest tecaher at Rincon my senior year. He taught in my Free Enterprise class---he was such a huge dork.
This was before he opened his business but he told us that he was in the planning stages of getting it off the ground.
Needless to say, I was surprised that it did so well. And needlees to say, I am not surprise by Picurro's actions.
He stared at all the girls in my class with such lust, we all thought he was gross and tormented him.
What a goober!
