The Pills / Gentlemen After Dark

The Pills are a legendary early punk band from here. They changed their name to Gentlemen After Dark and moved to Phoenix. Alice Cooper took a shine to them and produced an EP for them in 1983. The band that played was their original line up, including drummer Winston Watson, who until recently was Bob Dylan's drummer.

Lead singer Brian Smith and Robin Johnson. Johnson also played with the Sidewinders for a time and Smith fronts Beat Angels, a popular Phoenix bar band.

I was amazed by how young Smith looked, he's got to be pushing fifty. But he had perfect 80's hair. In some ways, it was pretty scary.

They put on a great show, the place was packed for them. I spoke to Winston Watson afterward, and he was really jazzed about how many people were there. He also pointed out how many grey and bald heads there were though, a fact borne out by my bad photography.

Comments:
Could be worse Ted, all those greying and balding heads could have had bad dye jobs and whatever happens to people's scalps after they use the Hair Club for Men.

At least this crowd is greying with dignity. :D Or I am just missing the pictures of the wannabe studs who actually HAVE done the dying and patching route?
