Fun with iTunes
My father decided to become a complete luddite, so he gave me his computer. iTunes came pre-installed on it. I realized that I could "rip" (oh, those cute little words that we have these days) CDs. I could keep "ripping" them, and iTunes would magically know what songs are on them. It's heard of just about every song in my obscure CD collection. Even Winelord's album generated an accurate playlist pulled from the ether. The only three didn't: a CD that was given to me at the Democratic National Convention by a band called the Flying Other Brothers, a Rex Allen CD that was put together by his museum in Willcox, and a CD made by my cousin in Hawaii. Pretty amazing, eh?

Everyday, I would "rip" another few CDs, after a couple of weeks, I had over 900 songs. Finally, I had a chance to actually use it. I had people over for some geek gaming, so I put the thing on "party shuffle" and let it go.
It managed to play the same Gene Vincent song four times.
Random isn't as random as it used to be.

Apparently, there is a way to submit a "playlist" to the internet. Why the heck would I want to do that? I haven't tried to see what is out there. I have a feeling it's full of entries from people who listen to too much sneaker gazer music. "You all should hear this Death Cab for Cutie!"

I was going to put my comments about my YDA swansong on here, but I posted that on my other blog instead.

Do zobaczenia. Hasta la proxima.
PS - Brittany Farbo saw that I had inadvertently misspelled "Willcox." I must have been thinking of Officer Jon Baker.

Hey Brittany,
I've heard that you've been working hard. Well, don't work to much. It's bad for your health. Write back soon.
