TGIF! Fantana Free Edition

The music is much more sophisticated, experimental even. Most of their songs in the past have been based on Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstien's riffs and vocals winding all around each other. On this album, their interactions are more seemless than they have been in the past. The album even ends with an extended "jam", for lack of a better word, Let's Call It Love/Night Light. This sort of thing would have been unimaginable on their previous albums. And yes, Janet Weiss is awesome too: loud, very loud.
I haven't had the time to listen to the Shelby Lynne album, Suit Yourself, yet. I have heard that this is more I Am Shelby Lynne than Love, Shelby. I hope so. She produced this album herself, which may already be a good sign. There is a song on there named "Johnny meets June". Could be a heartfelt tribute to her heroes, or a sacharine flavored disaster...I'll tell you which after I've given it a listen.

We also watched something on Bravo called The Dan Band. The premise was a guy, comedian Dan Finnerty, singing "chick songs." Mostly, it was exactly like being at a Karaoke bar with drunk frat guys. But, his background vocalists, Gene Reed and John Kozeluh, were funny, and the version of "You Oughta Know" at the end of the show made it all worth it.
I need to leave for work...that requires showering and such. So, I should actually go and attend to personal needs.
Hasta la proxima. Do zobaczenia.
